·       17/10/05: Meeting in the clubhouse this Sunday for anyone interested in the trip to Sweden next February. Starts at 5pm, bring your parents.

·       10/11/05: Due to the weather conditions getting worse, sailing on Sunday mornings has now finished. Please bring your boats home as soon as possible as work on the new clubhouse is commencing shortly. Sunday sailing will resume around March next year. The first event next season is the Westerns in Mullingar Sailing Club on the 15th and 16th of April next, followed by the Northerns on the 29th ad 30th of April. Prizegiving will take place either in late December or Earl January tbc.

·       06/10/05: Sailing on Sunday mornings during October and November has now commenced. If you can, come down on Sunday mornings at 10 o’clock for a few races, first gun at 11, weather permitting of course. Bring warm clothes as it can get a bit chilly. Sunday sailing will continue as long as the weather holds up. The list of events for 2006 is now available and is in the events section. Westerns will be in Mullingar, Northerns in the Royal North, Southerns in Tralee Bay SC, Fenit, Easterns in Sutton Dinghy Club and the Nationals in The Royal Cork. Don’t forget the Europeans in Poole.

·       10/09/05: Tomorrow, Sunday the Print 2000 trophy will be sailed. It is the biggest cup of the year for the Sligo Mirror fleet. Please, if you are free to go out, come down to the club at 11 o’clock tomorrow. A briefing will be held in the clubhouse at 11:15. First race will be at 12 o’clock sharp. The plan is to run 4 races during the day. DON’T BE LATE. Congratulations to Mark Armstrong on winning the Blennick Cup. A clean sheet of 6 wins out of 6 secured the cup for him. Well done! Tuesday and Thursday racing is now finished for the mirror fleet, and will soon also finish for the GP’s. The location for winter sailing is not definite yet, but it will either be at Mullaghmore or on Lough Gill, due to refurbishment of the club. More details to follow.

·       28/08/05: Blennick Cup had to be postponed today due to bad weather. Instead, it will take place on Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th of September. Next Sunday, the Hillas Cup is scheduled for the GP’s, so there will be no competitive sailing for Mirrors. The Print 2000 Cup will be sailed for on Sunday September 11th. It’s the last cup of the season, so a good turnout would be appreciated.

·       25/08/05: The main racing season is drawing to a close. Last Sunday, the Sligo Southern Hotel Regatta took place. A wonderful day of sailing was had by all, with 19 boats turning up to take part in some really good sailing. In the end, the regatta was won by Cian Gallagher. Sheila Armstrong was second, followed by Barry Armstrong in 3rd place, winning the silver fleet. The Bronze fleet was won by Ellen Martyn. Results are available in the results section. Congratulations to Luke Henderson on winning the Evening Points series, which finished this evening. Due to bad weather, no races could be sailed this evening. Results of both Evening Points and the Regatta are in the Results Section. The Red Sails will finish next Tuesday, 31st August. This Sunday, 29th, The Blennick Cup is scheduled to take place. Racing will start at 2:30pm. Hopefully we will have a separate course from the GP’s.

·       17/08/05: All sailors are now back home from the worlds. Well done to all who took part. Results available here. This Sunday 21st, the Sligo Yacht Club Regatta will take place. Racing will be team racing. Teams will be picked on the day. There will be one gold, one silver and one bronze fleet sailor on each team. All will be explained on the day. The event starts at 2pm. There will be food afterwards for all. Also, well done to Gerard and Oliver on fantastic leaving cert results.

·       11/08/05: Update from the worlds: Oliver is leading the Sligo fleet in 55th place, followed by Mark in 59th. Sheila is in 63rd while Gerard is 71st. Ross Kearney from the RNIYC is leading the event by 2 points. On Sunday August 21st, the Sligo Yacht Club regatta will take place. The event will be one of Team Racing only. To make the teams fair, we propose to pick the teams at random from a hat with1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze fleet sailor in each team. This coming Sunday, at 2:30, we will hopefully get a chance to practice some team racing. For those of you who don’t know what team racing is; there are 3 boats on each team, and two teams will compete against each other at a time. The winning team is the one that scores 9 points or less in the race.  We want as many boats as possible to take part in these races. There is a trophy to be won along with individual prizes for each team member

·       27/07/05: Final Mermaid Cup races will take place next Tuesday 2nd August after the GP nationals. There will be no club racing this coming Thursday or Sunday due to the GP nationals starting this Friday. Congratulations to all who travelled to Skerries Sailing Club to take part in the Mirror Nationals. It was a good event for some and a terrible event for others. Mark Armstrong was the highest placed Sligo boat finishing 15th with Gerard Healy one place and one point behind him in 16th. Well done to both of you. Congratulations also to Aisling Cronin on finishing second overall in the Silver Fleet. She now joins the 5 other Sligo boats in the Gold Fleet. This year alone, 5 Sligo Mirrors have moved into the Gold fleet. I think that’s a new record. I also think that a lot of our improvements are due to the work of Bryan and Brendan who brought us out sailing every Sunday since early Spring, and organised training for us with Peter Aitken, Gus and Niall Henry. You deserve a big “Thank You” for your hard work. Next week, Gerard, Oliver, Mark and Sheila will travel to the worlds in Sweden representing both Ireland and Sligo Yacht Club. We all wish you “GOOD LUCK” in the event. Give it your best.

·       19/07/05: Congratulations to Gerard Healy on winning the Captain Devanney Cup. Final Results are in the results section. As of the start of July, the Red Sails Series takes place on Tuesday evenings and the Evening points on Thursdays. The Nationals in Skerries start this coming Thursday. Good luck to all involved.

·       15/07/05: Yet another good result for the Sligo Mirror Fleet in Westport. Well done to Oliver Mc Cormack on an excellent result finishing 10th overall and also Gerard Healy who had a very good result considering he had not been sailing in quite some time. Congratulations to Sheila Armstrong on coming a well deserved second in the Silver Fleet, also well done to Luke Henderson on coming second in the Bronze fleet. We saw a repeat of the results from Ballyholme with Mark, Sheila and Cian finishing together in the overall results once again. Training with Gus and Niall Henry will continue on Monday evenings at 7 o’clock. This coming Sunday the Captain Devanney Cup is scheduled to take place, weather permitting. The Nationals are edging closer and are only a week away. Application forms are available in the events section.

·       28/06/05: Congratulations to everyone who travelled to the Royal Cork Yacht Club at the weekend to take part in the southerns. We had two prize winners; Joe, who was 5th in the Bronze fleet and Cian who won the Silver Fleet. The results have been placed in the events section. The westerns are getting very close now. They take place in Mayo Sailing Club on the 9th and 10th of July. We are hoping to get as many boats as possible to travel to the event. I have left some application forms downstairs in the clubhouse for anyone that is interested. If you are not sure whether or not to go, or are unsure about what these events are like, just talk to any of the more experienced sailors at the club. If at all possible, we would like to have as many as 20+ Sligo boats at the event. The June Series draws to a close this Thursday evening; the final results will be placed in the Results section on Thursday evening. Also, later this week, we hope to have set up a database of available crew’s in a password protected area within the site. Anyone in the Sligo mirror fleet can access the page where a list of crew’s and their contact numbers will be posted. If you know of someone who would like to be listed, please ask them.

·       05/06/05: May Points Series is now over. The final results are in the results section. The Southerns at the Royal Cork Yacht Club are only 3 weeks away. Application form is in the events section. June Series will run for the entire month, including Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This will be followed by the Westerns at Mayo Sailing Club, Westport, on the 9th and 10th of July.

·       03/05/05: Well done to those who took part in the Northerns at Ballyholme at the weekend. Results of the event have been placed in the events section. Congratulations to Cathal and Paddy on being promoted to the Silver Fleet. Thomas Chaix has contacted me about running a level 5 course this summer depending on the amount of people interested. It will not be run over the entire summer but will be run over 2 training camps. Details will be discussed at the meeting next Monday 9th.

·       24/04/05: A new record turnout set today for Winter Sailing, 17 boats. Northerns will take place next weekend at Ballyholme YC, Bangor. Racing will continue next Sunday, separate from Splash Points, and will start at 3pm instead of 11am. Racing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings has commenced, first gun will be at 7pm each evening. A meeting for all sailors and parents will take place on Monday May 9th at 7pm regarding the coming season. Results from 24th April are not completely accurate so please notify me of any mistakes. Last chance to race before Northerns is this Sunday. Launch at 10:30am.

·       11/04/05: Congratulations to Gerard, Mark and Oliver on their excellent results at the Easterns in Malahide. We now have 3 Sligo mirrors in the gold fleet.
