Sligo Yacht Club, in conjunction with Irish Sailing Association, provides a Sail Training Programme during the summer months each year. We cater for all ages, from kids as young as 8 years old, right up to 18 year olds. Sailing is "A sport for everyone, a sport for life", and Sligo Yacht Club is the place to start.
We offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of small boat sailing courses available anywhere in Europe. So, whether you're going afloat for the first time or want challenging racing among our Mirror, GP14 and Cruiser fleet, Sligo Yacht Club is just the place for you. After completing your sailing course, go racing on Tuesdays, Tursdays or Sundays with the GP14 and Mirror fleets, or get crewing on the yachts, which go sailing on Wednesday and Friday evenings.
Sligo bay provides ideal sailing waters for all levels of ability, and all our courses are run to the guidelines and recommendations of the Irish Sailing Association.
Our experienced coaches are there to understand your learning needs and will use a variety of coaching techniques to get the best out of you, as well as making sure you understand relevant theory and of course how to sail safely.

Bookings should be made in advance as we cannot guarantee places on the course at the beginning of each week due to strict instructor/student ratios. We know that restricting the number of participants gives a better level of instruction.
The cost of the course includes a boat as far as level two. After that level we encourage sailors to commit to developing the club fleet by purchasing a boat and partake in our weekly racing. Those doing Level 4 this year will need a boat to complete the requirements listed below.
